The New Normal in 2026

A journalist and industry analyst expert in AI ethics said, “Only we can save ourselves”. The article mentioned that our society is becoming more divided than it has ever been in history.

Here’s a few more quotes from the Pew Research Center

  • A significant likelihood of ongoing disability following a coronavirus infection, given what’s emerging about the medium- and long-term lung damage and chronic post-viral fatigue.

  • People will have significantly fewer friends, as relationships dwindle given the lack of regular in-person contact.

  • Remote-interaction technologies, whether video conferencing or various virtual reality applications, seem likely to be more commonly used by many employees outside the technology sector.

  • Working remotely will be more the norm with add-ons to family life allowing families to connect seemingly when travel is difficult.

According to other sources, there are worries about people’s mental health at a time of so much isolation.  Remote workers are feeling alone, and some feel abandoned. Staying engaged and motivated when working from home was difficult for some even when attending virtual events from their virtual managers that included virtual parties and coffee chats. However, the real danger is the lack of communication and collaboration which means the concern of remote isolation is not just social it is also informational.
